Editor’s Note:
Gary Young once said, “Death starts in the gut.” Many chronic illnesses start there, too. We often take heed and do something when we suffer in our lungs, our heart, or experience any aches in our joints, legs, arms, hands, or head, but we sometimes forget to care for and maintain the health of our intestines unless we are experiencing abdominal pains. Without healthy intestines you cannot absorb the nutrients and minerals vital for your life, which can lead to the loss of wellness for your whole body.

The following article has been adapted from his newsletter, The Ocotea News, available at It concerns Young Living’s DiGize Oil Blend and some of its many benefits for regular or daily use. If you haven’t been using DiGize Oil very much or, perhaps not at all, you may want to consider incorporating it into your lifestyle after you read this article.
OVER-ALL HEALTH AND WELLBEING
At a core level, to get the best results from Young Living products one has to address the functioning of the digestive system. If there are problems with this system, the impact will be felt throughout the entire body. For this reason, the use of Di Gize is a must. If there were just one oil I could choose to support my health and wellbeing, it would be Di Gize.
Di Gize contains the essential oils of Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Lemon Grass, Anise, and Patchouli. This combination of essential oils combats candida and the infestation of parasites in the gut. It is truly wonderful for women who are pregnant and going through the morning sickness phase. Just massage a few drops on the outer ears in the morning and at night. This brings great relief. If you have pets, you will find that massaging a few drops into the paws will help to get rid of parasites.
WAYS OF USING DI GIZE
1. Put 3 drops on your navel at night before sleep and gently massage the oil into your navel in a clockwise direction for a minute. This supports easier sleep, reduces bloating and digestive aches and pains. It also helps to regularize bowel movement.
2. After each meal put 3 drops on your tongue and sip a cup of warm water after. This helps the digestive process and supports blood sugar levels.
3. Put 3 drops in a cup of boiled hot water and pour it back and forth into another cup to cool it down, to add more chi (energy) to the water, and to blend the oil in. Sip this after a meal.
4. Put 3-5 drops in a capsule and take 1 capsule after each meal. This has a slower and deeper impact on the digestive system. People with ulcers may find this more beneficial for their system.
It is one thing to be having these oils around the home, claiming you are seeking better health and wellbeing, yet not really using them in ways to receive their maximum benefit. And when it comes to food intake, for many people their approach to having meals is no approach at all. They eat anywhere and everywhere: sitting at the desk, in the car, whilst walking, whilst texting, whilst reading the papers, whilst standing up, etc. For many people, there is no attempt to slow down and switch into a more receptive mode before eating, and engaging in no sense of gratitude for the fact that they actually HAVE food to put in their mouths…
It is truly uplifting to have some simple ritual that you perform before eating a meal. Create your own: I am not here to make one up for you. Some approaches might include saying a prayer, washing your hands, sitting and feeling your two feet flat on the ground, taking a deep breath and centering yourself. One or more of these ideas could be helpful in simply shifting gears before you eat.
Regardless of what major health challenges you may have, it is always good to start by figuring out what is really happening with the digestive system. If your digestive system has become very toxic because of your lifestyle or emotional stresses and trauma, then you need to address these issues. Young Living has created some truly state-of-the-art nutritional products. Read the product descriptions in the Young Living Product Guide or Website and see what fits your needs.
Some people want to use essential oils for spiritual purposes and that is good. What is very important when exploring this dimension is to have your feet fully on the ground. Getting your digestive tract into balance and smoothly functioning is a good foundation from which to focus on your spiritual life.
In addition to adopting it in daily use, DiGize is also great to carry when you travel, especially to other countries where the diet is different than in your homeland. It is also an essential oil to keep in your home for your family first-aid kit and at your workplace, too. DiGize is amazing for children with stomach discomfort. It can be applied directly on the abdomen for nausea, cramps, constipation, diarrhea, stomach flu, and other forms of intestinal discomfort. If your children don’t like the smell, apply it along their spines. It can address abdominal issues from the spine, as well. Don’t wait until you need it. Get some now.

2. Essential Enzymes and Essential Oils
~^~^~^~by D. Gary Young, et al.
What exactly are enzymes? Many Young Living distributors make sure to eat some of their food raw in order to receive food enzymes. But what exactly are enzymes? Enzymes are proteins produced by living organisms and, like all proteins, are composed of amino acids. Proteins are formed by stringing together long chains of amino acids, which have literally millions of different structures. All of the tissues and hormones of our body are built from proteins. But Enzymes are a special kind of protein.
Enzymes are catalysts that enable guide many essential biochemical reactions in our bodies. Without enzymes we could not live and function in our physical bodies. Enzymes are not consumed in the daily processes of the body. They are like supervisors and administrators who do not engage in the actual details of a workforce that carries out the mission of a corporation, yet without supervision the workforce could not work efficiently and, perhaps, would not be able to accomplish the corporate mission at all.
Enzymes are like the orchestra conductor who does not actually play an instrument nor sound any of the notes of a symphony, yet without a conductor, the orchestra could not function at all, or at least not perform very well. Hence, without enzymes as directors and administrators to keep our bodily functions operating smoothly, we cannot maintain health and normal bodily functions nor expect to live a long life.
Some of the things that disrupt or destroy our enzymes include many common pharmaceuticals. If you are taking Ibuprofen, Tylenol, or an antibiotic; if you are receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy; or if you are cooking your food in a microwave, you are destroying your enzymes, and the enzymes cannot build or develop in your system.
Without the enzymes, some metabolic processes would happen very slowly or not at all. Our body has many different kinds of enzymes, but the three major categories are digestive, food, and metabolic.
Each enzyme has a specific blueprint and a specific function. Every daily biochemical function of the body requires enzymes to facilitate the building of compounds from the body’s raw materials, unlock nutrients, and break down substances such as food, toxins, and chemical wastes in the body. Therefore, when enzymes are disrupted, our bodies lose their ability to function properly.
COMMITTMENT TO ENZYMES & GOOD HEALTH
Young Living wants all distributors, including those in their 60’s and beyond, to enjoy a zestful, healthy life. The higher the level of hormones and enzymes you can maintain, the greater longevity you will have, the greater flexibility you will have in your joints and muscles, the greater strength you will have, and the more elasticity you will have in your ligaments; then when you are 60 plus years old, you will be able to do the things you did when you were 30 years old.
So how does that happen? It’s called discipline. It’s called commitment to a purpose like good eating habits and the supplements you choose.
The upper stomach is only slightly acid or neutral, with a pH of 6.5–7.0. Food remains there for one hour and then enters the lower stomach, which is very acid, with a pH of 2.5–5.0. It is really critical to your health to maintain good pH. What helps to maintain a proper pH in the stomach? Two things: Enzymes, No. 1, and probiotics (intestinal flora), No. 2.
You have to have intestinal flora and enzymes to maintain a good pH range in the gut. If you don’t, what is the end result of not having good pH? Burping, gas, excessive acid, headache, stomach ache—-all those wonderful things that we sometimes experience.
ENZYMES AS “BLUEPRINTS”
When you apply, taste, or smell an essential oil, you are also stimulating the production of certain enzymes in your body.
I had a discussion with one of my professors years ago when I was at the Anadolu University in Turkey studying oil chemistry and GC and mass spectrometry. I had been having a fascinating debate with Dr. Bashir, who later visited me when I had the clinic in Springville, Utah. I told him that I believe essential oils have enzymes in them. He just about went ballistic and said that there is no way essential oils have enzymes.
I told him that it’s true that you can’t see the enzymes in essential oils under a microscope. But think about this example: It takes a sperm and an egg to make a child, and after that child is conceived and begins to grow, you can’t find the sperm or the egg, but they were there and their influence continues.
It’s the same in essential oils. The enzymes are in the plant that produced that oil; therefore, the blueprints of the enzymes, or their energetic signatures, are then in the oil.
Because of that, more and more we’re seeing evidence of essential oils activating enzymes, so when you put an oil on your body or ingest it through food, drink, or under your tongue, you are stimulating certain enzyme productions in your body.
Last year I met Dr. Bashir in Cape Town, South Africa, at a conference. He grabbed me and hugged me and said, “Gary, you were right.” It was worth going all the way to Cape Town just to hear that.
Essential oils are invaluable to human beings. And one of their major contributions to our lives are their ability to stimulate enzyme production.
FRANKINCENSE & ENZYME BLUEPRINTS
Frankincense is known to cause tumor reduction (antiblastic) and has been credited with remission of cancer in many cases. The other day Dr. Suhail and I were talking about frankincense, and he asked me if I knew something that I wasn’t telling him, and I said, “Well, I’ll tell you my feeling. Frankincense does not kill abnormal cells.”
He replied, “But, Gary, I’m seeing the evidence of frankincense killing abnormal cells every day.”
I told him that what he is seeing is an illusion and that frankincense does not kill anything, because God did not create it to kill. Instead, frankincense digests abnormal cells (breaks them down).
He came up out of his chair and exclaimed, “I knew it; I knew it! Frankincense digests abnormal cells!”
Dr. Edward Close made a similar statement in his book, “Nature’s Mold Rx,” concerning mold remediation with Thieves oil blend. He said, “Thieves does not kill fungus; Thieves digests fungus.”
So, what does it take to digest? Enzymes.
Enzymatic “blueprints” are in every essential oil. So some of the components in an oil will cause the blueprints of the enzymes to direct the traffic. With frankincense, we don’t know if it’s the boswellic acid or incensole or a combination of the pinenes and the sesquiterpenes that are directing the enzymatic activity in targeting abnormal cells. We don’t have the answer yet, but one day we will know. We just know that whether we understand the mechanism or not, frankincense works.
ENZYMES CAN HELP WITH THE STRESS OF TRAVEL
I can tell when I haven’t taken my enzymes for a couple of days, because I’ll start feeling a little tickle in the back of my throat, or I’ll feel a little congestion in my head, especially when traveling.
Nothing is harder on the body than traveling, particularly if you are traveling internationally. You are exposed to so much when you travel—-radiation exposure, elevation changes, climatic changes, environmental changes, and going in and out of hotel rooms that you don’t know who was in the night before. So how do you do that and stay healthy?
Recently, I was gone for six days and only slept in the same bed for two nights. Then I came home for two nights and then traveled to Florida. That is stressful on the body. That would be okay if that’s the only thing I had done in the last year, but that is just a sample of my life every month.
So, know how to take care of yourself. Enzymes are a major part of the answer. They are also a possible answer to many of today’s health problems, yet unidentified as enzyme deficiencies.
Today is a great time to treat yourself to wellness of your digestion, your breathing, and even your thinking.
Young Living enzymes have been part of my daily routine for years…they are some of Young Living’s supplemental products I choose NOT to be without.
