Biblical Remedies for House Mold and Ailments of the Skin

The fourteenth chapter of Leviticus describes a blend of essential oils composed of 50% cedarwood and 50% hyssop. This blend of pure essential oils has a variety of uses as given in the Bible

A Levitical Remedy for Skin Problems

Leviticus 14:54-56 suggests the blend for various skin ailments such as itches, scales, scall, risings, swellings, scabs, rashes, lesions, eczema, pimples, eruptions, skin spots, and/or any “leprous” disease, which could include dermatitis, psoriasis, skin cancers, and even leprosy, itself. The actual terms expressed in this passage depend on which version of the Bible you are reading, but they all refer to various unhealthy conditions manifesting on the skin.

The Biblical remedy is very interesting. The Scriptures prescribe applications of the oil blend to the right ear, the right thumb, and the right big toe for these diseases. These are all emotional reflex points for the right brain through which emotional issues can be resolved.

The Levitical instructions do not to say to apply the oils to the affected areas of the skin, which are the manifest symptoms of the disease. Instead, they say to apply the oils to the release points through which one would address the emotional roots of the conditions, rather than the skin conditions themselves.

There is some dispute over the exact application of the oils to the right ear. Some English versions of the Bible say “top of the ear” while others say “the ear lobe.” Meanwhile, the Hebrew version of the Old Testament simply says “ear” while some Jewish customs recommend applying the oil around the back of the ear. Each of these locations on the ear connote different emotional issues, but the point is that these application sites are all emotional and are not the sites of the rashes, eczema, or other manifestations on the skin.

I have not personally tested the Leviticus prescription for skin diseases. However, it is interesting to note the Biblical preference for addressing underlying emotional and spiritual issues over treating the surface symptoms directly on site. However, I would think that applying these oils directly to the affected areas of the skin might work well also. One of the wonderful things about essential oils is that you may experiment with them safely.

There are also some Jewish ceremonies described in Leviticus 14 that are prescribed to go with the anointings with the oils, but I expect that the oils would do their work without the rituals for which one can substitute a simple prayer for healing.

A Levitical Mold Remedy

Leviticus 14: 34-53 describes a problem with “diseased houses” whose walls have “greenish or reddish spots” which may be “deeper than the surface.” Of course, you will recognize that the Bible is describing an infestation of mold or mildew in the house. In modern terminology, this would be called the “sick building syndrome.”

The presence of toxic mold in your environment, especially in the heating and cooling ducts, should not be taken lightly. Prolonged exposure to toxic mold of any kind can result in serious illnesses.

According to the landmark book by Ed and Jacqui Close entitled, “Nature’s Mold RX: The Non-Toxic Solution to Toxic Mold,” the presence of mold in the one’s personal space, at home, work, or office, has been correlated with many disease conditions, including rashes, dermatitis, pain and inflammation of the linings of the mouth and throat, burning sensations around the eyes and in the nose, tightness of the chest, chronic coughing, bloody discharges from nasal passages, dandruff, diarrhea, earaches, hair loss, flu-like symptoms, fever, headache, dizziness, vomiting, asthma, allergy-like symptoms, sinus infections, respiratory congestion, sleep disorders, and fatigue.

Constant inhaling and exposure to mold can also affect brain function, causing loss of memory, personality changes, and slurred speech. Mold has also been implicated with such extremes as seizures, cancer, kidney failure, and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Mold is, perhaps, one of the most commonly overlooked causes of sickness leading doctors to treat the symptoms in the person instead of the causes in the home or workplace.

Dr. Close’s book outlines a protocol using Thieves Blend Oil that can be 100% effective in solving mold problems. His book and DVD on mold and its remedy are available at www.RaindropTraining.com. Thieves Blend contains the oils of Cinnamon, Clove, Eucalyptus radiata, Lemon, and Rosemary. However, the Bible suggests another oil blend: Cedarwood and Hyssop.

I have not personally tried cedarwood and hyssop for mold remediation, nor do I know anyone who has. The Biblical blend of oils for mold has not been tested scientifically while the “Close Protocol” using Thieves Blend has been thoroughly tried and tested.

The important points to take from the suggested treatment of a diseased house in the Book of Leviticus are twofold. One is that mold is an ancient problem, as old as mold itself. And Two, that the ancient remedy (oils of cedarwood and hyssop) and the modern remedy (oils of cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, and rosemary) are both from essential oils.

As the tests and experiments of Dr. Close have shown so conclusively, nature’s remedies for mold are far more effective and superior to any solutions afforded by man-made chemicals. Once again, God’s creations are found to be the best.

2. The Story of Aroma Life
~^~by Diane Mora*

Aroma Life is a blend of essential oils offered by Young Living, and I thought it would be interesting to tell how and why Aroma Life came to be formulated. This is my recollection from Gary Young’s account which he has mentioned many times over the years, but I don’t know if it is in writing anywhere.

The story starts in 1989 or 1990 in Kansas where Gary was teaching a class. One of the people in the audience was a very skeptical medical doctor who remarked that all of this was snake oil and of no value. Gary responded by inviting the doctor to bring in his toughest patient – the one he was having the most trouble with – after class.

The doctor came back with a red-faced, overweight gentleman of 70+ years of age. He could hardly make it up the stairs and was breathing heavily. The doctor said that for twenty years he had been trying to get this patient’s blood pressure to normalize – without success.

Gary took out his case of essential oils and started working on this man. I don’t know how he applied them. I’m sure he was working on the feet, but Gary never went into detail about application methods in this instance.**

Within an hour and a half, the man’s blood pressure was normal and it stayed that way for many months.

Gary recorded the oils and proportions of them that he used at the time and that became the blend of Aroma Life. The oils are cypress, marjoram, helichrysum and ylang ylang. We have had that blend available since I joined Young Living in 1995.

** The “Essential Oil Desk Reference” (EODR) has a section on High Blood Pressure where Aroma Life is applied to the heart, the heart reflex points, and to the neck over the carotid arteries which is said to lower blood pressure within 10-20 minutes. It may that this was part of what Gary Young did to the man in Kansas, since the technique given in the EODR originated with Gary. The EODR is available at www.RaindropTraining.com.

3. GOD’S FORGOTTEN GIFT NOW AVAILABLE
By David Stewart, PhD

In the last issue of The Raindrop Messenger we announced an upcoming book and set of DVDs entitled, HEALING: GOD’S FRGOTTEN GIFT. It was to be released at the Young Living Convention in Salt Lake in Mid-June, which it was. Over 1000 copies of the book and more than 500 copies of the DVD were sold in three days.

The new book and DVD set are a sequel to the book and DVD entitled, Healing Oils of the Bible, which establish the Biblical basis for applying essential oils for spiritual and healing purposes. Besides English, the book is now available in Spanish, German, and Romanian. All translations are available via the internet at www.RaindropTraining.com along with the new book and DVDs.

HEALING: GOD’S FORGOTTEN GIFT consists of eight sessions for a Small Study Group (5-8 people) to meet once a week for about two hours. This can be a church Bible Study Group or it can be just you and a few friends in your living room. Many oils are discussed and are meant to be applied during the eight weeks. You can expect to see miracles before the eight weeks are over.

The book includes the scriptures, student notes, discussion questions, with instructions and additional materials for the leaders hosting the sessions. There is also a set of two DVDs. One contains 15-20 minutes of introduction for each session by Dr. David Stewart to be viewed by the study group each week. The second DVD contains helps for hosts and instructions for the leader from Don Clair and Sandy Sutter on each of the sessions.

At the time of Jesus, and for two or three centuries afterwards, the disciples and early Christians engaged in a true healing mission where the lame were made to walk, the blind to see, infirmities of all kinds were healed, and the dead were raised. However, the skills and knowledge for healing by spiritual means have been largely lost and forgotten for many centuries. This publication is meant to bring back to the 21st century the healing mission as practiced by Jesus, his disciples, and the early church.

LEAD THE PROGRAM AND BUILD YOUR BUSINESS

Anyone can lead this series. You need no prior training. All you need to know is provided in the book and DVD. You don’t need to be familiar with the Bible. You can also go through the series alone, but you will learn more going through it with one or more partners as a small group. The ideal nunmber would be a leader plus five group members.

You can start with a group of five friends in your living room meeting once a week, or even twice a week if you want to shorten the time. Everyone participating will want to be able to purchase the oils mentioned so if these are friends of yours who are not yet Young Living distributors, this would be your opportunity to offer to be their sponsor and teach them about the oils. While the book and DVDs were not created with the intent to build your Young Living business, you will find that your business will grow with God’s blessings just by sharing the benefits of the oils of ancient scripture as given in through this book and set of DVDs.

The titles of the eight sessions are as follows:

1. God’s Gift from the Beginning
2. Oils and Healing
3. Oils for Spiritual Purposes
4. Cedarwood and Solomon
5. Oils, Temple Maintenance, and Repair
6. Healing and Repentance
7. Faith, Love, Prayer, and Oils
8. The Great Commission and Beyond

Through these sessions, you can learn to be a healer, just as the disciples and followers of Christ became healers when Jesus was on earth in physical form over 2000 years ago.
