(Based primarily on notes taken on Gary Young’s talk September 19, 2008, at the first Young Living European Convention, Vienna, Austria)

It has been said that when there is a conflict between reason and feeling, human beings will always side with feeling. According to Gary Young, “99% of life’s decisions are made from feelings.” Therefore, if you want your life to be guided by good decisions that lead to health, happiness, and fulfillment, you need to be aware of and in control of your present feelings and to learn how to release the repressed emotions of the past.

Most of our feelings from day to day are not responses to current happenings. They originate from the programming in cellular memory that was imprinted by the emotional experiences of our past that we were unable to understand, process, and resolve at the time.

These forgotten traumatic experiences function as live programming in our bodies, affecting every aspect of our lives and particularly in the area of how we make decisions. When our thoughts are limited by fears, lack of self-worth, and not feeling good enough for more or better, we make decisions that limit our success. Limited thinking leads to limited decisions that lead to a limited life far short of the God-given potential we actually possess.

By focusing on fixing your feelings, you can fix most aspects of your life–physical, mental, and spiritual. Essential oils are perfect vehicles to help you in this task because their molecules pass directly to the emotional brain and can bring us into contact with the issues we have long forgotten and enable us to deal with them and resolve them once and for all. When we clear our emotional baggage, we clear the way to manifest our true and highest potential.

According to Gary Young, “Thought equals frequency. Essential oils absorb our thoughts. They are registered in the oils as intent. Intent is directed energy. When you apply an intent-energized oil on your feet they can saturate all of your cells within 60 seconds, stimulating creative thinking and pushing negative energy out of the cells, thus increasing the frequencies of the cells throughout the body. In that uplifted state you can create a new desire to be better tomorrow. You have no limitations but those you choose to accept.”

Gary says, “Use the Feelings Kit. Apply feeling oils before work and every night before bed. Do this for 30 days and you will change your life.”

The Feelings Kit, which was out of stock for some time, is available again in a modified version. It contains six oil blends: Valor, Harmony, Forgiveness, Release, Present Time, and Inner Child. Here is how Gary instructed us to use them at the Vienna Convention:

VALOR
Put Valor Oil on the soles of both feet at nighttime along with Highest Potential Blend. These blends are effective to erase limited thinking. Valor balances and equalizes the body’s energies thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland—the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. You will wake up in the morning more self assured and more alive to start the day.

HARMONY
Massage one drop of Harmony Oil on each of the energy center points of your body. There are seven of them along the spine: Coccyx, Sacrum, Lumbar, Dorsal (heart), Cervical (where neck meets shoulders), and Medulla (hollow place at center base of skull), and Pineal (center of forehead). You can also massage Harmony on the crown of the head. Harmony balances the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems which, in turn, gives us progressive creativity and feelings of confidence. “The biggest sin is not having confidence in yourself,” says Gary, “He who lacks confidence lacks life.”

FORGIVENESS
Apply Forgiveness Oil around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times and think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others. We beat up on ourselves, but everyone makes mistakes. Yet we struggle to forgive our own mistakes and those of others. Unforgiveness is one of the most common roots of physical, mental, and spiritual disease. Unforgiveness does not make the offending party sick. It makes us sick. Forgiveness is for our own benefit. It is accomplished in five steps. (1) Forgive yourself for allowing the person to affect your health and happiness. (2) Forgive the other person for any harm he or she may have caused you. (This need not be done directly with the person being forgiven, but is an inner adjustment on your part.) (3) Give the other person permission to forgive you. (4) See the good in the situation. (5) Be thankful for the experience and the lesson it taught you. Inhale and apply Forgiveness Oil while going through these steps and repeat as often as necessary toclear the feelings of unforgiveness.

RELEASE
Negative energy goes into the blood and then into the liver for cleansing where the toxins can remain trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings. Apply a few drops of Release Oil on your tongue to release the poisons of stored emotions from the liver. Rub Release over the liver area. Drink lots of pure water and do a liver cleanse.

PRESENT TIME
When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. Energize three drops of Present Time by making clockwise circles on the oil in the palm of your hand and then apply it to your thymus (the gland just under your sternum or breastbone). Besides keeping you focused on the tasks of today, this can also help you financially by increasing your abundance consciousness in the present.

INNER CHILD
“When you are a child all things are possible. There are no limitations,” says Gary Young. “When you find your inner child, you have found your true self. The child in you is your creativity.” Apply one drop of Inner Child onto the pad of your thumb and then place your thumb onto the roof of your mouth. This opens the cranial sutures and stimulates the pineal, pituitary, and other organs of the emotional brain that occupy the space just above the roof of your mouth. Walking backwards while you have your thumb in your mouth looks stupid but it changes the rotation in the pelvis, elongating the spine, and decompressing the discs in your back. Thus, you can clear the nerve channels for energy to flow smoothly throughout your brain and body.

In conclusion, Gary said, “Use the Feelings Kit morning and night for 30 days. You will feel enthusiastic. Your life will be full of excitement. And people will be drawn to you like a magnet.”

(NOTE: The Feelings Kit is available from Young Living Essential Oils as Item #3125.)

2. How David and Lee Stewart Came to Young Living
by David and Lee

In 1995, Lee’s mother came to live with David and Lee. She was 85. Some of the traumas she had experienced during her life were the death of a two-month-old baby in 1948, the death of a 25-year-old son killed in Viet Nam in 1968, and the death of her husband of 54 years in 1990. There were also other issues from her childhood that were not completely resolved. “All of her life she was the Caretaker in the family,” says Lee, “Whose first priority was to always give comfort to others, before meeting her own needs.”

“Shortly after she moved in, her doctor prescribed a too-stong dose of prednisone which caused her extreme distress and agitation,” says Lee. “I stopped the prednisone and began searching for non-invasive, positive ways for my mom to deal with her unresolved grief and other issues.”

“In 1997, we attended a convention in Chicago,” says Lee. “I took an afternoon seminar on essential oils, about which neither of us were familiar. The idea of ‘aroma-therapy’ seemed odd, but interesting. The class was taught by Dr. Greg Hitter, a psychologist from California. He diffused oils during the seminar and explained how he used them in his practice. He gave each of us a package of literature, which included the booklet, ‘Introduction to Essential Oils,’ by Gary Young, a YLEO catalogue, and a price list.”

“When I opened the packet and read the booklet, I felt that I had found what I was looking for,” says Lee. “I went through the catalogue and ordered the Feelings Kit and a bottle of Peace and Calming. I had looked at some other brands of oils, but did not feel that they were what my mother needed. We were not yet Young Living distributors at the time, but only customers.”

“Neither Dave nor I knew anything about essential oils. When they arrived, I applied them exactly according to the directions on the Feelings Kit box. I also diffused them constantly. My mother had been placed on the hospice program at the time,” says Lee.

“The oils worked, along with a lot of prayer and tapes of scripture and sacred music. My mom was released from the hospice program and lived four more years in good health—not even a cold or the flu, and with no drugs,” reports Lee. “During that time she was still able to go to church and walk up steps. Those four years were a continuation of my mom’s life-long dealing inwardly with whatever issues she may have had.”

“On January 4, 1999, my mother died peacefully in her bed in our house,” Lee continues. “She was not sick. She was just finished with her work here on earth, including the work of the last few years to clear out some end-of-life baggage. What a blessing for her and for us that she could have such a wonderful transition from this life to the next. The oils were a key factor in making that possible.”

Three months later, in March 1999, Gary Young was to give a talk in St. Louis, Missouri (about 2.5 hours from where we live). Lee wanted to go and she thought Dave would be interested in hearing this man. Dave had been observing Lee’s use of the oils with her mother, but he had not become particularly interested himself. The Stewarts had a successful printing and publishing business that occupied their time and provided a living for them. “Mainly just to please Lee,” says David, “I agreed to go with her to hear this man, about whom I knew very little. I had no clue as to the profound change that trip to St. Louis was about to bring into my life.”

There were about 100 people in the room. Lee and David sat on the front row. “Gary was standing only a few feet in front of us,” says David. “Shortly after he began to speak I saw myself standing on stages around the world teaching people about essential oils, and a query posed itself in my mind: ‘This is your next assignment if you choose to accept it.’ I mentally responded, ‘Lord, if this is what you want me to do, I will do it, but you are going to have to help teach me about these oils because I know nothing about them.’

“Believing this to be a Divine commission to which I had committed myself,” David continues, “I began to consider what it meant. We had a going business that, until then, had taken all of our time. So the first step was to phase myself out of the family business, which I did with the help of our youngest son, Anthony, whom we trained to take over most of the responsibilities. Around the first of July we called Dr. Hitter in California, who did not remember or know us at all, and announced, ‘You now have a couple of new Young Living distributors in Missouri.’ The next week, we drove to Salt Lake City and attended the 1999 Young Living Grand Convention. This was when our education in the oils really began. I also started reading every book I could find on the subject and talking to everyone who could teach me.”

David and Lee took every workshop that Gary Young taught for the next several years, traveling to wherever necessary. The first of these was in September, 1999, in Toronto, Canada. It was a four-day workshop on Raindrop Technique. They bought a massage table at the seminar, tied it to the roof of their car, and drove back to Missouri. “We began practicing on everyone who was interested,” says Lee.

“My first experience to receive a Raindrop was in early October, administered by my wife, Lee,” says David. “For forty-three years prior to that time, I had suffered back pain from an injury received as a farm laborer in 1956. I could not lift heavy loads, and even bending over for simple tasks could put my back into painful spasms for the day. I could only sleep on a bed a few hours, after which I would awaken in pain and then move to a reclining chair for another few hours of rest. That was the way I have spent my nights for years. After one Raindrop, my back pain disappeared. I now sleep painlessly through the nights and lift heavy things. I have the back of a young man. That was nine years ago and the pain has never returned. It was a miracle.”

“That experience,” says David, “Made me realize that God’s plan for me to teach the world about oils was to focus on Raindrop and to train as many people as possible in this technique, which I consider to be a Divine gift to the world passed down through the instrumentality of Gary Young. By teaching Raindrop to all of our downline and doing free public Raindrop programs, our Young Living business grew rapidly. By February 2000, only seven months after enrolling, we were Master Stars, which, in terms of today’s Young Living plan, would rank somewhere between Executive and Silver.”

The printing and publishing business that had supported the Stewarts for more than 20 years was gradually dissolved. They now do oils full-time. The mission the Stewarts have accepted for themselves is to work toward every household in the world having at least one family member who can do Raindrop. Realizing that they were only two people and could not personally reach the millions who need to know Raindrop, they conceived of the CARE Program, formally initiated in 2001.

“CARE” is an acronym for “Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education.” David explains, “CARE is a self-replicating educational system where people are trained in Raindrop and associated skills. Some CARE students go on to become Raindrop teachers, who, in turn, train other students and teachers, who train other students and teachers, etc. etc. In this way, millions can eventually be reached.”

There are currently 40 Certified CARE Instructors by whom more 150 CARE Seminars were given in 2007 with the issuing of more than 4,000 certificates. The CARE curriculum includes Bible Oils, Vitaflex, Raindrop, Chemistry, and Emotional Release – a 25 hour program offered in a 3-4 day format. The CARE website is www.RaindropTraining.com where CARE Instructors and CARE Classes are listed.

“It was in developing the printed materials for CARE classes. David continues, “That I came to write the books: “Healing Oils of the Bible,” “The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple,” and “A Statistical Validation of Raindrop Technique.”

“As for our Young Living business,” say David and Lee, “It’s the best business we ever had. It grows continually. We are currently at the rank of Gold working on Platinum and are headed for Diamond.”

“For twelve years I was a University Professor,” says David. “But for the last two years in Young Living, our monthly Young Living check has been greater than my monthly salary as a full-time college professor.”

“And what is even better,” adds Lee, “While our YL income continues to grow we are privileged to help ourselves and others become healthier and happier at all levels of their lives–body, mind and soul. What a wonderful win-win business!”
