Aroma Life is a blend of essential oils offered by Young Living, and I thought it would be interesting to tell how and why Aroma Life came to be formulated. This is my recollection from Gary Young’s account which he has mentioned many times over the years, but I don’t know if it is in writing anywhere.

The story starts in 1989 or 1990 in Kansas where Gary was teaching a class. One of the people in the audience was a very skeptical medical doctor who remarked that all of this was snake oil and of no value. Gary responded by inviting the doctor to bring in his toughest patient – the one he was having the most trouble with – after class.

The doctor came back with a red-faced, overweight gentleman of 70+ years of age. He could hardly make it up the stairs and was breathing heavily. The doctor said that for twenty years he had been trying to get this patient’s blood pressure to normalize – without success.

Gary took out his case of essential oils and started working on this man. I don’t know how he applied them. I’m sure he was working on the feet, but Gary never went into detail about application methods in this instance.** Within an hour and a half, the man’s blood pressure was normal and it stayed that way for many months.

Gary recorded the oils and proportions of them that he used at the time and that became the blend of “AromaLife.” The oils are Cypress, Marjoram, Helichrysum and Ylang Ylang. We have had that blend available since I joined Young Living in 1995.

** The “Essential Oil Desk Reference” (EODR) has a section on High Blood Pressure where AromaLife is applied to the heart, the heart reflex points, and to the neck over the carotid arteries which is said to lower blood pressure within 10-20 minutes. It may be that this was part of what Gary Young did to the man in Kansas, since the technique given in the EODR originated with Gary. The EODR is available at www.RaindropTraining.com, and elsewhere.
